Westcoast Mainline Bridge Across M6 at Penrith undergoing emergency inspection after vehicle Strike

Network Rail are carrying out an emergency inspection of the WestCoast mainline bridge across the M6 at Penrith after a vehicle with high load structure struck rail bridge on Haweswster Road this morning leading to some damage.

Traffic lights are now in place on Haweswster Road leading to some traffic delays between Ullswater Road and Norfolk Road.,

Rail services are currently still running into and out of Penrith although trains are currently showing as delayed over the next hour into and out of Penrith.

Network Rail have been asked for comment on the situation and damage to the 60 year old bridge.
