Storm Dave Delivers a Blow to Voreda House

Penrith is beginning to feel the force of Storm Dave, as strengthening winds under an amber weather warning have already caused damage to metal gates and fencing around Voreda House.

The warning, which remains in place until 3am on Sunday, covers Cumbria and much of the North of England. As conditions worsen, the £8.5 million council building—currently undergoing repairs following previous flood damage—has been hit by strong gusts that have torn down sections of steel security gates and fencing.

The barriers, installed to secure the site during ongoing works, have been left twisted and partially uprooted. Several sections of fencing are now hanging precariously, leaning against nearby trees and the building itself as winds continue to intensify.

Residents are being urged to take care when travelling and to avoid unnecessary journeys while the amber warning remains in force.
