Police have closed off Mile Lane as Fire Crews and Ambulances responded to an incident on the lane near the junction with the A66.
plumes of thick black smoke had been seen filling the sky as fire engines and ambulances raced through Castletown to the scene on the incident at just after 6pm this evening.
The road is currently closed to all traffic and pedestrians with a police cordon in place.
A car has crashed into a wall at the entrance to Penrith Golf hub and burst into flames.
the car has been totally gutted by the fire that fire crews have extinguished.
it’s not known at this time if anyone was injured in the incident.
